Urban Teaching Track Outcomes
We are proud of the accomplishments of our students and alumni, and the data support our claims that program students are skilled and reflective teachers who can effectively respond to the learning needs of diverse learners, and create supportive and intellectually stimulating classroom communities.
The Barnard College Education Program is currently registered with the New York State Department of Education and is a member in good standing of the Association for Advancing Quality in Educator Preparation (AAQEP). The Barnard College Education Program is working toward accreditation of its educator preparation programs under the AAQEP standards with an anticipated Quality Assurance Review in Fall 2022.
The Barnard College Education Program was previously accredited by CAEP (Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation), formerly TEAC (Teacher Education Accreditation Council), for seven years from Fall 2014 to Fall 2021. This accreditation certifies that the Barnard College Education Program has provided evidence that it adheres to CAEP standards. A summary of the Program’s accreditation with TEAC, now CAEP, can be found here. On an annual basis, we collect student performance data, including NYSTCE test scores, transcripts, course grades, clinical evaluations, pupil surveys, employer evaluations, and other measures. These data are analyzed and tested for reliability and validity in support of our claims about the quality of our students and the teacher preparation program. As part of the accreditation process, the Education Program is required to provide information on the performance of its students. According to CAEP, “Aspiring educators, policymakers, and the public need to know about the quality of educator preparation programs and the impact of their candidates on schools and students". In compliance with CAEP accreditation and Title II reporting requirements, we share the following information about our program completers:
